|Gardening class to be in Lewellen|
Learn how to grow edibles indoors, all winter long, and develop practical skills for greening up your life at a gardening class at Volunteers of America in Lewellen on Saturday, Jan. 29, 1-4 pm. Cost of the class includes supplies.
Varieties of sprouts containing vitamins, calcium, protein and fiber provide a host of health benefits, including prevention of cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis. Sprouting is simple and inexpensive, and a great health boost.
Container gardening is a desirable option for the home cook or health nut, providing fresh produce around the calendar.
The series is being developed by AmeriCorps members, featuring local and regional experts on varied topics including: cold frames, garden planning, seed selection, raised beds, keeping goats, cheese making, bee keeping, grass feed beef, fruit tree care, and food preservation.
