|Creativity blooms in the classroom|
New ‘Bamboo Boards’ with ‘Animation-ish’ software brings learning to a whole new level for students in Perkins County Schools studying the life cycle of a plant.
By Jan Rahn
Third graders at Perkins County Elementary have a whole new reason to be wild about school.
“Animation-ish” has been introduced into the classroom by Mrs. Pennie Reese, and the kids are sucked in.
Animation-ish is an easy-to-use animation software program that inspires creativity through laptops.
The software program, along with “Bamboo Boards” for drawing pads that facilitate it, were given to the school.
Reese, along with fifth grade teacher JoAnn Schultz, and Marcia Graney, who instructs distance learning at the middle school, spent two days at a workshop in Ogallala learning about Animation-ish.
As a reward for their attendance, 15 Bamboo Boards with Animation-ish software were gifted to the school.
Reese’s class spent time last week creating a cartoon of the life cycle of plants—something she could easily tie into the curriculum unit on plants.
