|Seasonal flu shots on their way—H1N1 still available|
By Jan Rahn
By the middle of this week, seasonal flu vaccine should be available at both of the medical clinic facilities in Grant.
The vaccine was to have been shipped as of Monday, so residents seeking the shot for the seasonal flu should check with their clinic to see whether the shots have arrived.
The flu that has already hit the county has been that of Type A (most likely H1N1, also known as swine flu). However, the Grant Medical Clinic has not seen any Type A for about a week.
There are still some H1N1 shots available at both the Colglazier Clinic and the Grant Medical Clinic.
Since H1N1 was first identified in April, an estimated 22 million Americans have become sick, with nearly 98,000 being hospitalized. The illness has killed 4,000.
Even though there has been a decline in H1N1, health officials warned people to remain vigilant over the holiday weekend because of the surge in travel and exposure to people in malls, airports and other public places.
To receive either the seasonal flu shot once it becomes available or the H1N1 vaccine, contact either the Colglazier Clinic 352-2122 or the Grant Medical Clinic 352-7100.
