Volleyball

The Lady Wildcats hosted the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos last Friday, Oct. 12. Although they won the third set 25-23, they lost the other three sets, 14-25, 24-26 and 12-25.

Coach Elizabeth Hock said the girls keep making progress. “They made some great hustle plays. We need to limit errors that we can control.”

Sydney Pelster led service aces with 17 followed by Juliana Rosentrater with 16. Quinn Koop and Hailey Brooks led kills with five each. Brooks also led digs with 14. 

In the first game of RPAC action, Wallace lost to Hitchcock County in three sets, 12-25, 10-25 and 16-25. Coach Hock said it was not their best effort. “We need to do better on serve receive. Two missing pieces were teamwork and competition.”

Koop led services aces with nine, Emma Schanou led kills with four and Natalie Marquardt led digs with seven. 

RPAC play continued Tuesday night. The ladies will host Perkins County on Friday and travel to Hitchcock County for a triangular on Monday, Oct. 22.

Cross Country

The cross country team ended their season at the D-6 district meet in Bridgeport on Thursday, Oct. 11. 

The girls placed eighth with 125 points. Sophomore Mariah Gardner placed 25th with a time of 23:18, Junior Brianna Juarez placed 49th with a time of 26:57, Junior Hannah Robertson placed 53rd with a time of 27:57 and Junior Emily Kennicutt placed 54th with a time of 28:38.

For the boys, Freshman Jackson Sinsel placed 42nd with a time of 20:15, Sophomore Aidan McClintock placed 58th with a time of 20:58 and Freshman Camden McConnell placed 85th with a time of 27:53. 

Football

Due to injuries, it looks as though the Wildcats may be done for the season.
