The Perkins County volleyball team scored wins over Wauneta-Palisade and Garden County last week, while dropping a competitive match with Chase County.

PCS made the trip to Oshkosh Tuesday to match up with WP (7-14) and Garden Co. (14-8).

The Plainsmen swept both teams, WP 25-19, 25-21 and Garden Co. 26-24, 25-22.

Head Coach Monica Cole said PCS came out and did a lot of the right things from the beginning of the night and it just kept flowing.

“We got them out of system with our serving and that helped us to be able to capitalize on our offense. Our blocking had a good night and that is always good to see as we progress towards the end of the season. We got to the finish line without hesitations and finished both games in two sets,” Cole said.

Perkins County headed to CCS (13-13) Thursday for Pink Out night at CCS. PCS lost 21-25, 19-25, 20-25.

“The energy in the gym was full and that made it fun. We stuck right with Chase all night long, but in the end couldn’t end up closing a set on them,” Cole said.

Her team did some really, really good things all night long, Cole added.

“Mentally, within these last few weeks of season, we must overcome and get stronger. And that is exactly what I told the girls in between sets, and at the end of the game. They have the fight, they have the grit, we just have to have the confidence and wisdom throughout the entire game when it gets 3/4 of the way through the set to persevere,” she said.

Overall, Cole said it was a good week.

“I was proud of the girls and their efforts. They have worked so hard thus far, so now we hope to see it come to fruition throughout this week and during SPVA Conference Tournament on Saturday,” she said.
