Golfers win dual, second at DCS quad

Ogallala, Bridgeport up next

Girls’ Golf Coach Rich Borman continues to see improvement in his players with scoring getting better each week.

Last week, the girls hosted Creek Valley in a dual at Pheasant Run on Tuesday. They followed that up Thursday with the Dundy County Stratton nine-hole quad meet.

In the dual against Creek Valley, the girls finished with a team total of 230 over nine holes. Creek Valley finished at 250.

At the DCS quad held at the Benkelman Country Club, the girls cut their nine-hole team score to 218, just two strokes behind Hershey to finish second.

In comparison, the girls opened up with a 523 for 18 holes at Bayard and brought that down to 490 at Kimball the next week.

At the Creek Valley Invite, the girls trimmed their team total to 471.

While not a true comparison, doubling their nine-hole totals in the dual and quad would equate to team totals of 460 against Creek Valley and 436 at DCS.

Individually, Kayla Reichenberg led all golfers against Creek Valley with a 52. Maddy Ingold finished with a 57.

Kaitlyn Meyer was next with 60, followed by Emma Klahn and Emme Sims, each with 61s.

Sarah Cockerill finished with a 66 with Ella Uehling shooting a 75.

At DCS, Ingold finished second overall with a 52, followed by Reichenberg and Meyer in a tie for fourth with 54s.

Klahn finished in seventh with a 58 and Sims shot a 62 to finish in a tie for 10th.

The girls will continue to tune up this week with meets at Ogallala Tuesday and Bridgeport Thursday.

Only one more meet is on the schedule, Sept. 29 at DCS,  before the C-5 district meet in Kimball Oct. 4.
