Grant’s Tori Gengenbach is the newest member of the Perkins County Schools Board effective Monday, May 1.

The Board met Monday to review nine applications it had received to fill a vacant position left with the resignation of Angela Gloy last month, who accepted a teaching position with Perkins County. The board had 45 days to fill the vacant position.

Along with Gengenbach, other applicants were the following: Megan Apolius, Tim Bishop, Tracy Lee, Shelby Day, Adair Reese, Don Softley, Elliott Peterson and Mitch Bottom.

Before choosing Gengenbach, the five board members whittled down the candidates to two choices each, and then voted again to unanimously choose Gengenbach.

Background

Gengenbach said she is thankful for the opportunity to serve on the board.

“I’m excited to help build upon the current Board’s foundation of excellence,” she said. “It’s a big hole left by Angela Gloy, and I’m hopeful I can quickly learn the protocol and the vision of the current Board and the administration.”

Gengenbach said she  knows there will be a lot of changes with the next school year, especially with an entirely new administration team, and she is hopeful that she can meaningfully contribute.

“My personal goals for this position are to focus on retention of our fantastic teachers and staff,” she said. “I look forward to helping shape the district’s goals for the short and long term.”

Gengenbach also said that a strong school system is crucial to the prosperity of the community, and she is motivated to see it succeed for all of Perkins County.

Gengenbach and her husband, Eric, have four kids in the Perkins County school system, and own First Insight Eyecare with locations in Grant, Imperial, North Platte and Ogallala.
