Kurkowski selected as September's Senior of the Month

Perkins County’s September senior of the month honor goes to Jaclyn Kurkowski.

Jaclyn is the daughter of Kelvin and Judy Kurkowski. 

Throughout her high school career, Kurkowski has participated in many school organizations, sports, music, drama and has supported her community.

Kurkowski has played a leadership role as class president her freshman and sophomore years and vice president her junior and senior years.

Kurkowski has participated in FFA all four years of high school, serving as treasurer her junior and senior years.

She has been a part of FCA and PCYC. She has also engaged in mock trial, quiz bowl, science club and speech. 

Kurkowski has enjoyed musicals, marching band, swing choir and chorus throughout the last four years. She has been part of UNK Women’s Choir, UNK Honor’s Choir, Allstate Honor Choir and FFA State Choir. She received the following awards for music: Choral Leadership, Outstanding Performance and South Platte Valley Association Honor Award. 

She has also been part of drama, as well as One Act plays.

She has been active in sports, participating in volleyball, basketball and track for three years. 

In addition to her extra cirricular activities, Kurkowski is a dedicated student having made Honor Roll and received Academic Letters for three years. She was also awarded NSAA Academic Allstate for track and music and is part of National Honor Society.

As a member of her community, Kurkowski stays active in her church, and she has dedicated time to help with the local blood drive, remains active in 4-H and 4-H Council and participates in annual sport camps. 

After high school, Kurkowski plans to attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she will study architecture. 

For being selected Senior of the Month, Kurkowski’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant. She will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.

The Senior of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored by Pinnacle Bank of Grant and members of the community.
