Roberta Russell entered her eternal rest on her 84th birthday, September 20, 2021. Born September 20, 1937, to Robert and Leota Johnson, they made their home north of Elsie.

On December 8, 1955, she married Duane Russell, and they had four daughters, Carol (Rick) Eiserman of Prescott, Ari.; Donna (Denny) Richards of Sun City West, Ari.; Linda (Craig) Schriner of Eaton, Colo.; Ronda (Vance) McCoy of Elsie, Neb.; 10 grandchildren: Ryan Eiserman, Holly (Nick) Penido, Renae (Loren) Johnson, Ryan Richards, Reid (Brenda) Richards, Kaitlyn (Bill) Smith, Lauryn Schriner, Tyler (Katie) McCoy, Tanner (Kaycee) McCoy, Meredith (Trevor) Hurlburt; and eight great-grandchildren: Harper & Callen Penido, Emery and Ayla Smith, William, Ella, and Everett McCoy, and Rylan McCoy.

Duane and Roberta made their home south of Madrid, where she enjoyed gardening, reading, and cooking. Her love of family was evident in her constant support in helping Duane farm and raise cattle and encourage their growing family.

Her faith impacted her entire life as a young mom. She involved her daughters in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and church. She served in the United Methodist Women’s group and Stonecroft Bible Studies. She loved her family well, teaching them, speaking encouraging words, writing cards, and always welcoming family gatherings.

In 2017, Roberta moved to Memory Care, where she received caring support.

A favorite verse was Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Her faith in God gave her hope for life. Our comfort from the Scriptures is to be away from the body and present with the Lord.

Roberta’s desire to be securely “home” has been granted. Thank you, Lord, for Your gift to us.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marilyn Holscher of Grant, Neb.

Surviving siblings are Joyce Carr of Kansas and Bruce (Gerri) Johnson of Illinois. Also, many nieces and nephews.
