Entrants from over 200 miles away as well as many locals had vehicles on display at Venango Lions Club’s second annual car show Sunday, June 18.

The free event also had outdoor games and music and entertainment provided by Matthew Chandler-Smith.

A meal of pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, cookies and bottled water was served.

The Whack-a-car, where people could smash a car with a variety of different tools, a favorite being the pick axes, proved to be a popular attraction.

A variety of small vendors were also on hand that donated a portion of their proceeds to the Venango Lion’s Club.

“This is our largest fundraiser of the year,” said organizer Carrie Dodson. “It yields more funds than any other event we do. Last year we purchased new playground equipment; this year we plan on building a basketball court.”

Plans are already in the works for next year’s event with the possible additions of awards for the car show, vendors, a beer garden, and a cornhole tournament.
