Wrestlers prepare for opening meet Friday in Elwood

The Perkins County Plainsmen wrestling teams have been busy practicing, like they were here Monday afternoon. Left: Head Coach Tanner Collins takes wrestlers through warm-up drills. Right: Senior Brient Wood, left, and Freshman Preston Schwanebeck team up to practice. The Plainsmen’s first meet is this Friday, Dec. 2, in Elwood. The squad has deep numbers this year, with 15 boys going out and 4 girls taking part. This will be the second year that all girls wrestling has been sanctioned by the State of Nebraska. Perkins County did not have any girls go out last year. Other upcoming meets for the Plainsmen are Saturday, Dec. 3 in Broken Bow and Friday, Dec. 9 at Southern Valley. The Plainsmen will have their home meet this year on Thursday, Jan. 5 starting at 5:30 p.m.
