Bridging Nebraska’s Digital Divide event scheduled

Nebraska’s eight Economic Development Districts will host Bridging Nebraska’s Digital Divide from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. CT, on Monday, March 21. The statewide event to collectively seek solutions for improved broadband service will be held virtually and in person at sites around the state, including Mid-Plains Community College’s Ogallala, Broken Bow, Valentine, Imperial and North Platte campuses.
Active and engaged citizens, elected officials, agricultural producers, utility service partners, economic developers and business, healthcare and education representatives are invited to join the in-depth conversation to explore ways to improve the quality of and access to broadband connectivity to all Nebraska residents.
Millions of dollars in federal funding have been designated to increase broadband access for improved internet speed and reliability for Nebraskans. In some rural areas of the state, access to reliable broadband is limited. This can affect quality of life, community and economic growth, educational opportunities, access to healthcare, and business development.
In addition to the Economic Development Districts, the event is sponsored by the Nebraska Regional Officials Council and Nebraska Public Power District.
