School science fair in need of judges

Perkins County Schools will be holding the school’s science fair on Friday, January 14, 2022. The school is seeking judges for the event, which will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with lunch to follow.

“Our students appreciate when their hard work can be shared with members of the community,” said Jennifer Gonzalez, science teacher at Perkins County Schools. “It is nice for them to present their project to their teacher and classmates, but presenting their projects to adults outside of the school gives them new respect and insights for the work they have done.”

It is not necessary to be an expert on science to participate as a judge. The most important criteria, according to Gonzalez is that judges are caring members of the community.

On the day of the science fair, judges will use their expertise in determining how well students demonstrate their science learning while using the scientific method or engineering design process.

Everything judges need to know will be easily explained during breakfast at the judges meeting before hearing student presentations, from 8:30-9 a.m.

Lunch will be available for judges after students’ projects have been listened to and scored, around 12:30 p.m.

To volunteer to be a judge for the Perkins County Schools science fair, fill out the online survey at https://forms.gle/k6uNNckhcNk5Kt5AA by January 1, or contact Mrs. Gonzalez by email at jennifer.gonzalez@perkinscountyschools.org. Please provide name and contact information where one can be reached.
