City of Grant updates, improves website

The City of Grant website, www.grantnebraska.com, has received a facelift, both in appearance and its user friendliness.

Rather than simply posting the city agenda and minutes for the town, the website is now a hub for information about the local area.

Major updates have been made to include Municipal Code Book availability, permits available for printing, COVID-19 updates, water reports, airport information, blight studies, a calendar with all city advisory and committee board meeting dates and times and more.

City Council meeting agendas and minutes will still be available, but now the website is much more than that. It can now be a one-stop shop for everyone looking for information about the city of Grant, according to City Superintendent Edward Dunn.

Dunn also noted in the future, it may even be possible to fill out and submit forms online rather than printing them out, filling them out by hand and submitting them in person. They are currently working on making this feature an option for users.

Not only has the website received an improvement on its content, but the appearance has been modified to be more appealing as well. Photos of Grant have been added to the website, and the main color has been changed from green to red.

Pertinent information can be found by scrolling down on the front page, where important notices are posted. COVID-19 updates, 2020 Summer Ball Season information, and details about the gift card match program are all current notices one could find on the front page.

Major Lisa Schmitt, City Attorney Tawna Holmstedt, and Dunn worked together over the past several months to make decisions about the changes needed for the City of Grant website.

“We’re trying to clean it up for the ease of use and functionality,” Dunn said. “We tried to make it easier for not only the citizens that live here, but citizens coming into town as well.”
