Wallace man arrested on child sexual assault charges

Deputies with the Perkins County Sheriff’s office assisted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in executing a search warrant on the rural home of Richard Moore, 65, of Wallace.

Moore was arrested Oct. 18 on a warant executed by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office.

The warrant was for alleged First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class IB felony, and alleged Third Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class 3A felony. 

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of possible sexual assault of a child on Oct. 14. The incident was reported to have occurred during the summer of 2019 and possibly on other occasions.

According to a release from the Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office, investigators conducted an extensive investigation into the matter. 

Based on that preliminary investigation, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Moore.

The release noted deputies from both counties worked through the day removing two covered trailers full of suspected evidence.

Moore was arraigned in Lincoln County Court on Oct. 21. He is being held in the Lincoln County Detention Center with no bond.

A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 31 in Lincoln County Court.
