Friday night’s home game last of Plainsmen’s regular season

With one game left in the regular season, Coach Shawn Cole and his Perkins County Plainsmen basketball team sit at a 10-11 record following last week’s win over the Creek Valley Storm, who are now 9-12 this season.

Friday night the Plainsmen host the 20-2 Bridgeport Bulldogs for the last regular season game before subdistricts begin next week.

The Plainsmen took the scoreboard early on in the first period, and despite a brief tie and a minor slip, brought their advantage back up to 23-11 going into the second.

The Storm defense held the Plainsmen to eight more before halftime, while they added just seven to their side of the board, leaving PC in a 31-18 lead.

The Plainsmen offense took off in the third when they put up 17 points and allowed Creek Valley only six.

The Storm outscored the Plainsmen in the fourth 13-10, but it wasn’t enough to bring them back, and it was the Plainsmen with the 58-37 win.

Senior Spencer Ross scored the most points in the game with 20 and had six assists and nine rebounds. Alex Patrick made 9/18 shots for the second most points in the game, including one triple-point shot, for 19 points. Patrick also had two steals and three assists.

Junior Caleb Lagler put up six points for the Plainsmen and had three rebounds and a steal.

Alex Poppe contributed four points and had six assists, three rebounds and a steal.
