Wallace wins final season game

Wallace completed their final game of the regular season last Friday, Feb. 16 in Chappell against the Creek Valley Storm.

The game was pretty even through the opening quarter as points were exchanged. The Storm ended up with a slim 10-8 lead as the first eight minutes expired.

As the second quarter got underway however, the Wildcats started taking charge. Within the first three minutes, the Cats had earned a 3-point lead.

It was then that Micah Swedberg went on a 6-point scoring run to put Wallace up by nine.  The Storm responded. Just before the half, they put up a quick five points to cut into the Cat’s lead. Wallace went into halftime with a 22-18 lead.

The Wildcats came out to own the third quarter. Defensively, they completely shut Creek Valley down while they heated things up on offense. Wallace was able to put up five points before the Storm got a basket. It was then the 3-ball was the shot of choice.

Jared Sullivan knocked down back-to-back treys and then Kaden Hager added his second 3-pointer of the game. Sullivan added another bucket for good measure to help Wallace take a 38-22 lead into the final period.

The Storm were much more competitive on the offensive side of the ball in the forth quarter but their defense could not stop the Wildcats.  Wallace put up the first two baskets but then Creek Valley charged back by scoring three straight buckets.

As the game played out, the teams went on to exchange baskets during the remaining time. Wallace ended up with a 49-34 win when it was all said and done.

The Cats were led by Micah Swedberg with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, seven steals and two blocks. Jared Sullivan scored 12 points and had six rebounds and one assist. Ty Maline had nine points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Kaden Hager had six points, four rebounds, one steal and one block. Blake Pelster had four points and four rebounds and Logan Rosentrater had two points, three rebounds and two steals.
