Suicide prevention training to be offered in Ogallala

Mid-Plains Community College and Region II Human Services are collaborating to offer a free suicide prevention training class on Monday, Feb. 19. The class will be from 6:30-8 p.m. at the MPCC Ogallala Campus. 

The Question, Persuade and Refer, aka QPR, training was designed to help people better understand suicide so it is less frightening. The intent is to make those who attend the class feel more confident about what they can do to discourage someone from attempting suicide.

The class is not intended to be a form of counseling, but is intended to offer hope through positive action. Dr. Brenda Peterson, CEO of Cervelle Consulting Services, will provide the training.
