PC fair board plans upgrades

With dates officially set for the 2018 Perkins County Fair, July 16-21, the Perkins County fair board is moving forward with a remodel and expansion plan for the dance hall and several other facility upgrades.

The board is also hosting its first annual Spring Prospect Show on April 7, giving local youth a new opportunity to showcase their beef.

Donations from local businesses as well as individuals in the community are paving the way for the remodel and expansion project on the kitchen in the dance hall.

This expansion and remodel will be accompanied by upgrades to the bathrooms and concrete work on the north side of the dance hall.

Additional improvements will be made to dress up the dance hall. The board is striving for a more elegant facility the community can utilize for graduations, weddings and other events.

Livestock barn upgrades are also on the agenda. The barn will be rewired for the betterment of the livestock and to assist the 4-H participants in showing and selling.

There will also be some remodeling and improvements made to the hog and sheep wash area.

Finally, the crow’s nest in the arena will be repaired.

The fair board is confident these improvements will ensure high quality facilities and safe and attractive fairgrounds for the community.

Current fair board members include Darren Jensen, Dan Lee, Derek Wilson, Elliott Peterson, Kasey Kroeker, Melissa Sauder, Shawn Tjaden, Tom Foster, Russell Lee and Patsy Kroeker.

Patsy Kroeker serves as secretary and point of contact for dance hall inquiries and can be reached at 308-352-8058.
