Quiz Bowl finishes in top 9 percent at state
On Wednesday, Apr. 26, the Perkins County High School Quiz Bowl team competed at the State Quiz Bowl Tournament in Holdrege. This was an all-class, all-state, double-elimination, bracket-style tournament. This means that classes of all sizes were lumped together in the same bracket. Twenty-nine schools, representing the 17 educational service units in the state, competed in the tournament. PC went 1-2 on on the day.
Lost to Hastings High School (30-50); defeated Southwest High School (5-0); lost to Thayer Central High School (20-50)
Going 1-2 on the day means that PC finished in the Top 9 percent of all quiz bowl teams in the entire state.
Team members include Kenyon Gaar, Nathan Kemling, Karen Ruiz, Chris Terry, Zach Malmkar, Bryce Grothman, Jacob Woodmancy (team captain), Jaci Kurkowski, Jack Kohl and Matthew Wendell.
