Starting an in-home childcare business to be topic of workshop

Free event will include breakfast

The informational workshop “Starting an In-home Childcare Business: Could this be the Career For You?” will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Sat., May 21 at Perkins County High School in Grant. There is no cost to attend and breakfast will be provided.
With adequate and quality childcare in high demand across the state, the Ogallala campus of Mid-Plains Community College and Educational Service Unit 16 have partnered to give information on the benefits and challenges of starting an in-home care center.
Topics to be covered include the definition and importance of quality childcare, the ideal qualities of a provider, and the beneficiaries of quality childcare.
Information will also be provided on the definition of family home childcare, and the steps required for licensing.
A retired childcare professional will also talk about the importance of providers recognizing their childcare home as a small business and will share tips on communication and contracts.
All participants will receive a copy of the book, “From Babysitting to Business,” and current licensed providers will earn three clock hours of continuing education credit.
For additional information or to register, call MPCC Ogallala, at (308) 284-9830.
