Mandatory survey due Feb. 18

Last Monday, residents of Grant should have started receiving a survey from the City of Grant regarding water safety.
In accordance with the State Health Department Regulation Title 179, it is mandated that all water customers complete and return the survey to the City Office.
This survey is required to be completed every five years to ensure safe and quality drinking water.
The survey asks yes or no questions about if the residence or facility has such equipment as swimming pools or hot tubs, photo, chemical, medical or other lab facilities, private wells or other sources of water, boiler heat or water to air heat pumps, garden hoses connected to possible contaminants or a water softener.
Along with those questions, it is asked if such items are protected kby a testable backflow preventer, a hose bibb vacuum breaker or an air gap, depending on the appliance.
According to City Superintendent Edward Dunn, 100% participation is required in order for the City of Grant to continue to provide water to residents. Failure to receive 100% participation puts the water system in violation of State Health Department REgulation Title 179.
The survey must be returned to the City of Grant either directly at 342 Central Ave, or mailed to P.O. Box 614 Grant, NE 69140 by no later than Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The City Office will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 17. Regular City Office hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If needed, Midwest Electric can provide the correct account number to include on the survey. They can be reached at 308-352-4356.
The City Office has extra copies of the survey, just in case.
