Grand jury recommends commissioners re-open Sheriff’s Office dispatch center
Working from recommendations by a grand jury, Perkins County Sheriff Jim Brueggeman told county commissioners it may be time to re-open the communications/dispatch center inside the Sheriff’s Office.
Brueggeman shared the idea with commissioners at their regular meeting Feb. 3.
The grand jury was held Jan. 3 to review whether any wrongdoing or crime was committed by the Sheriff’s Office during a fatal pursuit in August, 2019.
While the grand jury found no wrongdoing, they did make recommendations based on the testimony they heard during the day-long closed session.
As part of their findings, the grand jury proposed “that the Perkins County Board of Commissioners allocate funds necessary to re-establish the communications center in the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office.”
