FFA Week, which runs Saturday to Saturday and encompasses Feb. 22 (George Washington’s birthday) is a nationally recognized event that celebrates future leaders in the agriculture industry.
With 46 members, the FFA chapter led by Seth Burge is the largest activity club at Perkins County High School.
This year’s FFA Week has been shortened due to school being out of session Monday-Wednesday, so activities will be held Thursday and Friday. Thursday, FFA will host a staff appreciation breakfast and cornhole games for the students at lunch. Friday will be  Greenhand Day for first year FFA inductees, and “drive your tractor to school” day. Members will be wearing blue and gold both days to honor their club’s colors.
At the February Perkins County Chamber of Commerce meeting, guest FFA members Eli Busick and Hallie Fisher gave a report on what is happening with the local chapter. Busick serves as the chapter’s reporter and Fisher is the president.
On Tuesday, March 1, FFA will be holding its annual Hired Hand Auction with a complimentary soup supper at 6:30 followed by the auction. The highest bidder will receive eight hours of labor from their auctioned FFA member.
FFA officers are: Hallie Fisher—president; Kylie Tucker—vice president; Kayton Brueggeman—secretary; Gavin Smith—treasurer; Eli Busick—reporter; Ella Uehling—junior advisor and Storm Peterson—sentinel.
