Motorcycle collides with semi

An injury accident between a semi-truck and motorcycle occurred half a mile east of Grant on Saturday, May 25 around 7 a.m.

According to the accident report, Adam Curtis, 54, of Madrid, was driving eastbound on Highway 23 in a 2017 Peterbilt truck owned by Kevin Schrotberger of Imperial. He signaled to turn left onto Road 328.5 and slowed to make the turn.

Thomas Prosser, 27, of Grant, was eastbound on Highway 23 behind Curtis, driving a 1996 Honda VT1100 C2 motorcycle.

Prosser said he thought the truck was just gaining speed and did not see the turn signal had been activated. He therefore attempted to pass the truck, entering the westbound lane.

When he noticed the truck was indeed turning, he applied his brakes, attempting to avoid a collision. He veered onto the shoulder and was unable to avoid colliding with the truck.

Prosser sustained injuries to his right leg and was transported to Perkins County Health Services by Perkins County Ambulance.

No citations were issued.
