GVFD and Lions Club come together for Briggs benefit
Perkins County pulled together once again Saturday evening, June 30, when the Grant Volunteer Fire Department joined forces with the Lions Club to host a pancake feed to benefit 11-year-old Michelle Briggs who is battling osteosarcoma for the second time.
Alongside the free will donation pancake feed, several area businesses and residents donated items for a silent auction.
According to Fire Chief Don Softley, they served over 450 people, and unofficially, through the pancake feed, the silent auction and monetary donations ahead of time, the community raised over $16,000 for the Briggs family.
