Deputy Brian Gertsch joined the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office in late June.

Attending school at Mid-Plains-Community College and Hastings College, Gertsch majored in criminal justice and minored in psychology, completing an internship with the Hastings Police Department.

With his wife, Janae (Vogt), originally from Imperial, they made the decision to move west to Grant several years ago, where Brian worked for the railroad.

Wanting to pursue his career in law enforcement, they moved to North Platte where Gertsch accepted a position with the North Platte Police Department in October 2014.

Again wanting to get back to a small town closer to home to raise their family, Gertsch jumped at the opportunity to come back to Grant.

“Perkins County is just right for us. You couldn’t ask for a better location. I’m excited to be back.”

Brian and Janae just bought a home in Grant with their three children, Walker, almost 6, Tucker, 3, and Weston, 1.
