Bullocks defend main street property and business

Noel and Brett Bullock addressed the Grant City Council at the Oct. 10 meeting concerning their property at 740 Central Ave., which was declared a nuisance on July 25.

The property was on the agenda to be abated at the Sept. 26 meeting. The abatement failed due to councilman Matt Greenwood’s abstained vote and the absence of Mayor Mike Wyatt and council member Andrea Brueggeman.

Noel said they have tried to take care of the things in West Central Nebraska Development District (WCNDD) photos outlining the items out of compliance, such as repairing broken windows and cleaning up items not for sale.

“We don’t think it’s right that the building is thrown in with the lot. We think the building should be separated out,” said Noel.

Noel said his sons, Scott and Brett Bullock, contacted Karl Elmshaeuser with WCNDD to request the building be released from the declared nuisance.

Noel read from a copy of an email sent to City Superintendent Dana Harris from Elmshaeuser received on Friday, Oct. 6 at 3:09 p.m.

Elmshaeuser  stated in the email, “I believe their request is reasonable.”

The council was not aware of this email.
