Right on track—Wheat harvest nearly complete
Perkins County wheat harvest is all but complete. According to Kevin Reichenberg of Frenchman Valley Co-op, harvest in the county was at 97% completion as of Tuesday afternoon. Test weights this year were good to excellent, while protein was “all over the place.” Yields averaged 40-60+ bushels per acre for dryland and 80-100 for irrigated. Overall, Reichenberg said it was a hot and fast harvest with perfect weather. Above, Becky Uehling captures her son Cadge harvesting his uncle Mark Lagler’s wheat.
