Marjorie Reicks - September 12, 2013

Marjorie Reicks was born in Lincoln County, Neb. on Sept. 23, 1929. She was the youngest of two children born to Joseph “Ben” and Eva Main Welch.
She grew up southeast of Wallace, Neb. and attended rural school. She graduated from Wallace High School in 1947 and had enough credits to teach rural schools.
She taught in the sandhills until she was married to Lynn Moore on March 25, 1951 in North Platte, Neb. Three children were born to this union. They made their home south of Wallace in Hayes County on the Shamrock Ranch where she continued her teaching.
Marjorie was married to Mark Reicks on June 12, 1965 in Hayes Center, Neb. They lived on a ranch north of Wallace. Marjorie would take night classes and attend summer school and after 23 years she earned her bachelor of arts degree in education from Kearney State Teachers College.
She started teaching kindergarten for Wallace Public Schools in 1967 and taught until 1998 when she retired. After retirement she continued to volunteer for the school for three more years. In 2001 she officially retired after 45 years of teaching.
Mark died in 1997 and Marjorie continued to maintain her farm home. She had been failing in health but with the help of family and caregivers she was able to stay on the farm until she died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 3, 2013. She had reached the age of 83.
Marjorie loved her flowers and her garden and had achieved a master gardener status. She joined the Wallace United Methodist Church in 1959 and had been an active member. When she lived south of Wallace she belonged to the Jolly Farmerettes Extension Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Welch and her son, Jim Moore.
She is survived by those she loved, her daughter, Marlene Moore and her husband Dwight Maseberg who live on the Shamrock Ranch south of Wallace and her son Rich Moore of rural Wallace; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 6, 2013 at the Wallace United Methodist Church with Pastor Harun Gatobu officiating.
Burial was in the Wallace Morningview Cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
