Thomas Scott Petty - May 09, 2013

Thomas Scott Petty, 52, of Indianapolis, Ind., unexpectedly passed away on May 1, 2013.
He was born March 12, 1961 in Monticello, Ind. to Jerry Petty and Linda Downey. He graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1979, excelling in basketball, football and track. Tom was a two-time All-County choice and All-State selection in 1977 and 1978. He was awarded the Marion County Athlete of the Year in 1979.
He also set several school records and lettered in all three sports. He went on to pursue his passion and talent for football at the University of Kentucky, graduating with a degree in business. His love for the outdoors led him to Colorado and eventually to Nebraska where he started his family and established a successful career. In 2009 he and his family returned to his home state of Indiana.
In life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending cherished time with his family, especially his children. He was also an avid sports fan and participant. He especially enjoyed attending any high school sporting event. He was an extremely personable individual who did not know a stranger.
He is survived by his children Danielle Raine, Cameron Thomas and their mother, Tara, of Greenwood, Ind. He also leaves behind his mother and father, Jerry Petty and Linda Downey as well as a stepmother and stepfather; sisters Kari, Debbie, Jessica and brother Tim, in addition to several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends.
Memorial services were held May 6, 2013 at the Greenwood Christian Church.
