There is a new Father at the Catholic churches in Perkins County, Father Thomas Kuffel.
Kuffel arrived in Grant June 16. The ceremony of installation was on Sunday, June 29.
He was raised in Milwaukee, Wis., with one brother and six sisters. He served as a Father in Milwaukee for 10 years.
Before entering seminary Kuffel was a missionary in New Mexico and worked closely with Native Americans. In 1982 he went to Rome and ordinated in Rome in 1989. He was also the director of Camp Kateri Tekawitha in McCool Junction, south of York from 2010 until recently.
When asked about moving to Grant, he said, “It’s an exciting change to come out west with the setting change and beautiful country out here.”
Father Kuffel will be in Grant Saturdays through Tuesdays. On Wednesday he will be in Elsie. Thursdays and Fridays Kuffel will be in Wallace.
He will celebrate all Masses currently scheduled.
