Happy Camper Run coming June 28 PDF Print E-mail

The public is asked to consider providing financial support for kids who are hurting by donating to and/or participating in the Happy Camper Run on Saturday, June 28 in Ogallala.
The Happy Camper Run was started in Omaha as an effort to support their local Royal Family Kids Camp. The focus of Royal Family KIDS is to provide a camping experience full of positive memories in a loving environment for children and teens in foster care.
To provide funding to launch this year’s camp, a Happy Camper Run is being hosted, which will include a 5K race, 1 mile fun run and a children’s carnival after the run.
Royal Family KIDS is the nation’s leading network of camps and mentor clubs for children of abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Royal Family Kids’ Camp (RFKC) was founded in 1985 by Wayne and Diane Tesch to give something back to the children in the foster care system: positive memories of childhood as a foundation for the future.
The RFKC High Plains has joined Royal Family KIDS to bring this camping experience to 24 foster children ages 6-12 in 17 surrounding counties.
Last year 4,000 children were victims of substantiated child abuse in Nebraska. These abused and neglected children struggle to understand why those who were supposed to love them the most couldn’t, or wouldn’t, care for them.
They long to be assured of their value and be loved unconditionally. RFKC represents a fun, positive atmosphere that is uniquely tailored to the needs of hurting children and teens. Even a few days of encouragement will impact these special kids for a lifetime.
“We are confident the 2014 Happy Camper Run will raise significant funding to provide campers and camp counselors with scholarships and necessary supplies to create this one week of life changing moments,” says  Kaelyn Armstrong, RFKC High Plains Happy Camper Coordinator.
Radiant Life Church is acting as the camp’s fiscal agent. All funds given go directly to RFKC. Tax deductible donations can be made payable to RFKC High Plains/Ogallala and mailed to Radiant Life Church, P.O. Box 554, Ogallala, NE 69153.
Register for the run online at or at the Lake Ogallala playground at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28. The run begins at 8 a.m. with the children’s carnival following.
