Wallace speech team captures district title PDF Print E-mail


The Wallace speech team competed in the District D2-5 speech competition at Perkins County High School in Grant on Monday, March 17.
Wallace placed first in D2-5 with 172 points followed by Callaway with 144 points. Hayes Center was third with 137 points and Anselmo Merna fourth with 122 points.
“I am very proud of the team and excited for state,” said Samantha Garrison, Wallace speech team coach.
State qualifiers for Wallace were: Sarah Banks, Landon Swedberg, Emma Franklin, Alex Lundvall, Jaclyn Nelson, Tanner Clough, Collin Swedberg, Dillon Koop, Chance Kennicutt and Madisen Messersmith.
Qualifiers participated in:
OID–Dillon Koop,Tanner Clough, Alexandria Lundvall, Landon Swedberg, Collin Swedberg; Duet–Sarah Banks, Madisen Messersmith; Persuasive–Alexandria Lundvall; Extemporaneous–Chance Kennicutt, Emma Franklin; Serious–Jaclyn Nelson; Humorous–Collin Swedberg.
Schools in D2-5 were Anselmo Merna, Arnold, Callaway, Hayes Center, Hitchcock County, Maywood, Sandhills, Wallace and Wauneta Palisade.
Class D state speech is on Friday, March 28 in Kearney.
There will be a Spring Speech Showcase for Wallace state qualifiers on Monday, March 24 with a community potluck beginning at 6:30 p.m.
