Angel Tree project now underway
By Shari Friedel
Perkins County children who may not otherwise have a joyful Christmas can be assured of a special holiday through the annual “Angel Tree” project, now getting underway.
The project is sponsored by the Perkins County Ministerial Association and organized by volunteers from various churches.
How It Works
Letters to parents/caregivers in the county are being sent home with the students in Perkins County Schools.
The letter seeks information on each child and what their gift request might be, including name, age, gender and gift request.
Letters will also be available at any church, The Grant Tribune-Sentinel office, Hatch’s Super Foods, the Perkins County Food Pantry and the Thrift Shoppe at the senior center.
Once information is gathered, request cards will be released to the public through the churches.
Children will not be identified by name on the gift request cards.
Benefactors may select gifts for the chosen child(ren), or aid the project through a money donation.
Gift cards will also be distributed to families to purchase groceries for a special meal during Christmas.
Donations may be given to any pastor or dropped off at Pinnacle Bank in Grant.
Deadline for Requests
Request letters must be completed and returned NO LATER than Friday, Nov. 15. Please mail to: Marlene Pritchett, Box 370, Grant NE 69140.
