Tree board invites community to tree planting event in park PDF Print E-mail

In celebration of ReTree Nebraska, the Grant Tree Board has planned an event at the Grant City Park on Saturday, Oct. 26. Everyone is invited to attend.
Nebraska Forest Service forester Amy Seiler of Gering will be conducting a tree planting and pruning demonstration, as well as a question and answer session for anyone needing information regarding tree planting and care.
Refreshments will be provided by tree board members.
Participants should meet at the Lions Club Shelter at 9:30 a.m.
The Grant Tree Board, as well as the Perkins County High School senior class, both applied for and received grants through the “Greener Nebraska” initiative, of 10 free trees to be planted in the community.
Some of the sites chosen to receive trees are the courthouse, park and museum.
The remaining trees’ locations are as of yet undecided. They are required to be placed in a public area, or next to a street. Anyone with a request for placement of a tree should contact tree board president, Jon Forney.
