Friday night will be the culmination of a week filled with activities for 2013 Homecoming at Perkins County High School.
Although the dance won’t take place until Saturday night, the royalty crowning is set to be held at the conclusion of the football game against Decatur, Kan., on Oct. 4. The king and queen will be recognized along with a boy/girl set of first, second and third attendants who are also seniors. All of the candidates were voted on by the student body but were not announced by press time.
Here are the activities planned for the end of the week:
Thursday, Oct. 10: The student body dress will be “throwback day” and a jersey auction will be held. The cross country runners and the volleyball girls all compete at home late afternoon.
Friday, Oct. 11: It will be “Go Big Red” day with students and faculty dressing appropriately for game day. A pep rally at Haenfler Field is scheduled at 3 p.m. which will include a “Ships and Sailors” game. Football begins at 7 p.m. following a tailgate supper hosted by the Booster Club.
Saturday’s homecoming dance is from 8-11 p.m. in the high school gym.
Students had fun dressing up and taking part in various activities throughout the week. Monday was “color day” and students competed in tug-o-war. On Tuesday, the dress theme was Halloween and there was a water balloon toss. Western dress was Wednesday’s theme and students played dodge ball.
