New Eagle Scout in Lincoln has local ties PDF Print E-mail

Troy Nelson, son of Dennis and Julie Nelson of Lincoln received his Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor ceremony Sunday, Aug. 11 at the Lincoln Berean Church.
Troy earned 31 merit badges, completed 168 nights of camping, and served in various leadership positions within his troop. His community service project involved building and installing a 300-foot rope fence in Fleming Woods at Pioneers Park in Lincoln.
The rope fence provides a safer environment for people using the hiking trail in that area. To complete the project, Troy enlisted the help of 20 volunteers including scouts, leaders and community volunteers.
Troy, 18, is a senior at Lincoln Southwest High School where he participates in tennis, trap shooting and orchestra. He is also a member of the Lincoln Youth Symphony.
Troy is the grandson of Keith and Gail Nelson of Madrid and Ray and Alice Lindekugel of Imperial.
