GVFD hosts annual banquet PDF Print E-mail

Nearly 70 attended the annual banquet of the Grant Fire Department/Perkins County ambulance on Saturday evening, April 27.
Firefighters, EMTs, spouses and invited guests were served a meal by the Youth Development Club, followed by the department’s program at the American Legion Hall in Grant.
The evening consisted of a year in review from 2012, presentation of awards and video presentation by Grant Fire Chief Don Softley.
Receiving perfect attendance awards for the year were Rick Ochsner and Bob Hochstein.
Several members were honored for years of service. They include:
• Five years: Rick Dreiling, Jason Noyes, Chasity Knolls.
• 10 years: Becca Lagler.
• 20 years: Harlan Rahn
• 35 years: Don Softley.
Special recognition was given to Assistant Fire Chief Fred Reichert for extra time and dedication in programming radios, pagers and hand-held units.
Others who serve on the department include Bryan Kroeker, Dwight Wiebe, Bob Tatum, Shane Mastre, Ron Krause, Wayne Pick, Casandra Cockerill, Roger Friesen, Gerald Hostetler, Trent Mastre, Ward Mastre, Jessie Shireman, Shawn Wiebe and Dalton Zimmerman.
Members of the Grant Suburban Fire Board are Rex Wilson, Cecil Hendricks, Randy Gengenbach, Tom Kosmicki and Robert Bounds.
Following the program, those in attendance were invited to the fire hall for games and refreshments.
