A one-vehicle accident early
Saturday morning, April 6, resulted in multiple injuries for an Imperial man.
Perkins County Sheriff Jim Brueggeman said 25-year-old Arturo Acosta/Martinez was transported by Flight for Life from the Perkins County Community Hospital following the accident, which occurred near the Perkins-Chase County line on 318 Road.
Brueggeman said Acosta was about one-fourth mile north of the county line when the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the road, and rolled once.
The sheriff said Acosta over-corrected and the vehicle crossed the road, ran into a field, knocked over a power pole and traveled three-quarters of a mile down a ditch into Chase County.
Equipment was used to extricate Acosta from the pickup. Brueggeman said the driver’s abdomen and pelvis were the most severely injured. The Perkins County EMS transported Acosta to the hospital.
The Perkins County Fire Department was the first to respond to the scene of the accident, which was reported about 6:12 a.m.
Brueggeman said charges are pending in the incident. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
