By Carolyn Lee
The Imperial Republican
Calvin Weiss has sold Weiss Chiropractics and Acupuncture to Dr. Jason Mathews of Benkelman. Mathews will split his time between Benkelman and Imperial.
The business will be renamed Mathews Family Chiropractic in Imperial.
Mathews attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, then obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas in 1999.
He has practiced in Benkelman for 13 years.
Mathews was influenced in his choice of profession by Kevin Schreiner, who was a chiropractor in Imperial over 20 years ago.
He enjoys meeting people and helping them.
Mathews Family Chiropractic will be open in Imperial Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon; Tuesday from 2-5 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1:30-5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Weiss
Weiss established his business in November 2008, moving back to his home town after obtaining his Doctor of Chiropractic through undergraduate and graduate studies.
Weiss plans to move to Golden, Colo. to establish a new practice with the same name.
He is making the move, he said, as he likes the mountains, outdoors, hiking, biking and snowboarding.
Weiss said Mathews wanted to expand his business and will take over Weiss’ clientelle.
“I don’t want to leave my patients unattended,” he added.
Weiss will be closing his Grant office. The secretary of the Imperial office, Shawna Rusher, will continue in her position at Mathews Family Chiropractic.
Weiss, a 1998 Chase County High School graduate, said he’ll miss his patients.
He has been the president of the Imperial Jaycees and was a member of the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department.
