PCHS speakers are first at Sutherland PDF Print E-mail

Nine members of the PCHS speech team travelled to the Sutherland Invitational on Saturday. Feb. 2, winning in a field of 14 schools.
Other participating schools included Chase County, Paxton, Garden County, Hershey, Creek Valley, Arthur, Dundy County/Stratton, Julesberg, North Platte St. Pat’s, Wauneta Palisade, Sutherland, Wallace, and South Platte. Sutherland and Perkins County competed in two rounds of preliminary competition.
PCHS won the meet with NPSP coming in second, while Wallace speakers placed third.
The six highest placing individuals advanced to a finals round. Only points in that third round of competition counted
toward team scores.
Contestants from PCHS included: Informative–Hannah Beck third, Allison Kiolbasa sixth; -Entertainment–Allison
Kiolbasa first, Sammy Snogren second; Humorous Prose–Lila Konecky fourth, Elizabeth Krajewski; Poetry–Lila Konecky third; Duet–Rachel Patrick and Lacey Jensen first; OID–Rachel Patrick, Lacey Jensen, Lila Konecky, Hannah Beck, and Sammy Snogren first; Serious Prose–Kylie Hanson and Rachel Carrig.
On Feb. 9, PCHS speakers will compete at the North Platte High School Blue and Gold Speech Invite. Rounds begin at 8 a.m. CST.
