Parade of lights, Santa, soup supper on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m.
By Jan Rahn Managing Editor Hosted by the Venango Lions Club, the western-most village in Perkins County will hold their version of celebrating 125 years with a Christmas parade, food and Santa on Sunday evening, Dec. 9. Other towns along the Highline held individual celebrations of their 125th throughout the summer—Venango will wrap up the county’s commemorative events with a big holiday celebration. Everyone is invited to be a part of the parade beginning at 5 p.m. with the theme of “Parade of Lights: Celebrating 125 Years.” Those entering the parade should plan to line up at 4:45 p.m. on Pennsylvania Ave. County businesses and residents are invited and encouraged to decorate a float, put lights on a pickup, march in costume, etc., to participate in the 125th celebration. After the parade, Santa will appear at the American Legion Hall to distribute goodies to the children. A homemade soup supper will also take place at the Legion Hall. All donations will go toward the Venango Lions Club. For further information about the Christmas celebration in Venango, contact Lions President Mike Dodson at 353-8510.
