The Keith County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) received a $600 grant from the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation for the purchase of flat screen television and a DVD/VCR player to be used to present training programs to current and new volunteers. CASA volunteers and board members include (Front row, l-r): Rosie Kerk, Linda Harms, Lisa Albee, Karen Nelson and Pat Skinner. Middle row: Cheryl Beckius, Virginia Sizer, the Rev. Linda Battello, Jeanie Daiss and Kathleen Kling. Back row: Patty Meismer, Sharon Ott, Jo Teaford, Roger Adkins and Dave Kling. CASA pairs volunteers with children who have been abused and/or neglected who are involved in the court system. The CASA volunteer, who undergoes extensive training, then becomes the “child’s voice” during court proceedings. Keith County CASA serves children in Keith, Perkins and Garden counties. To volunteer, or for information, contact Director Sharon Ott at 308-284-9858. (Photo courtesy of Keith Co. News)
