First snow of the season dumps several inches

One Year Ago November 17, 2011 Veterans Day was celebrated in Grant at the Perkins County High School. A free bean feed at the Legion Hall followed the ceremony for all veterans and their families. The Perkins County High School cast of “Brownstone 213,” was preparing for their public performance to be held Nov. 20 at the high school. Following that on Nov. 30, the students were set to go to District competition at the North Platte High School. Ten Years Ago November 14, 2002 Lights were being hung at many businesses on Central Avenue, as preparations for the annual Chamber Open House, which was to be held Nov. 21. A very close race ended in a very close re-count, which resulted in Susan Logsdon being declared the winner for the title of Perkins County Clerk. Susan won by a margin of five; 566-561 against her opponent, a write-in candidate, Barb Trusty. Twenty-five Years Ago November 18, 1987 Residents were bundled in their warmest attire as they cleared the streets, sidewalks and cars early Monday morning. Temperatures were frigid after Sunday night’s storm, Perkins County’s first snow storm of the year, had brought 5-plus inches of wet and heavy snow to Grant and the surrounding areas. Owners should see George Smith, the village Marshall to save their dogs.” The Grant Tribune Sentinel was delivered a day late this week due to uncontrollable circumstances. “Mechanical difficulties and a rush of work left us no choice but to come out a day late.” It was also reported that news that should have been in the issue was left out and would come out in the next issue.
