$7,500 DuPont Pioneer grant goes to Wallace PDF Print E-mail

Public Schools Greenhouse project funded by seed company to expose students to agronomy education.

Wallace Public Schools is pleased to announce they are the recipients of a $7,500 DuPont Pioneer grant towards its greenhouse project.
“Every day at DuPont Pioneer we are working hard to develop seed technologies that will provide food for a safer and healthier world. We are proud to support local projects that help expose students to science and agronomy educational opportunities. A workforce trained in these areas will be crucial to coming up with the solutions that will meet the food, fuel and fiber demands of an expected nine billion people by 2050,” said Matt Pelster – local Pioneer sales manager.
“Agriculture is so vital for our school, community, state, nation and world. There truly is a need for education concerning how agriculture affects and impacts all of our lives. By obtaining $7500 through Pioneer and $2500 through the John Russell Applegate grant funds we will be able to create hands on learning for grades K-12 in the area of plant science. The funds will be used to purchase a greenhouse, thus opening a world of discovery and learning for the students at Wallace Public Schools 65R. Agriculture education and FFA is a great way to foster leadership skills and scientific discoveries. The addition of a greenhouse to our current facilities is a welcomed supplement to our current teaching efforts.
