Book fair set during conferences Oct. 18
The Perkins County Elementary School is sponsoring a book fair to help support the school improvement goal of improving students’ reading.
The book fair will be held at the elementary school on Oct. 18, from noon–8 p.m. in conjunction with parent teacher conferences.
Scholastic Books is the company the school is working with for the fair. The public is invited to come to the book fair at the school to purchase books for their children. The students will get to have a preview day the week of the fair where they may go to browse different titles that may interest them.
The teachers of the district will also be invited for a special preview. During this preview teachers will fill out wish lists of books they would like to have in their classroom.
The public may then look at the teachers’ wish lists and have the opportunity to purchase books to be donated in honor of someone for that teacher’s classroom.
Patrons may also purchase books for the school online. Anyone interested in looking at titles online may go to the school’s website at http://www.pcs.k12.ne.us.
The book fair committee will also have a table to promote the book fair at the volleyball game on Oct. 16. There will be a 50/50 drawing bucket for anyone who would like to donate to the book fair, with a chance to win some extra spending cash!
Getting exciting books in the hands of all of the district’s students is the main objective of this event. However, this goal can be reached not only by parents purchasing books for their own children, but also with the funds raised by this event.
The school plans to use the profits from the book fair to purchase even more titles for the elementary and middle school buildings.
Be sure to take part in this exciting event for teachers and students.
