By Shari Friedel Tribune Staff With each golfer setting or matching a personal record, and scoring as a team the lowest score by 32 points for the season, the Perkins County golf team had what head coach Troy Kemling called “a dream day” at the Hershey Invite on Tuesday, Sept. 25. “In my years of coaching golf, I have never had all golfers do this on the same day,” said Kemling. “The girls are playing well at the right time of the year.” Ball strikes have shown great improvement from the beginning of the season, and is reflected in the scores. “The girls are making several high quality shots each round which is resulting in less wasted strokes for us,” Kemling said. He commended the games of Hailey Sletten, Capri Meyer and Carra Johnson, who all had quality nine hole scores. “They were each so close to breaking that 50 mark. They just needed a putt or two to fall and they would have done it,” he said. “I was impressed with the JV golfers who don’t get a great number of opportunities to compete during the season,” he added. “All three (Natasha Thomas, Rachel Carrig and Renae Goodwin) capitalized on their chance to compete and represent Perkins County well.
