By Jan Rahn Managing Editor A city sales tax approved by voters is soon going to take effect. Beginning Oct. 1, a one percent increase in sales/use tax will bring sales transactioins within the City of Grant to 6.5 percent. The measure was approved by voters during the May 15 primary election. The tax will allow for the increase of budgeted restricted funds for the upcoming budget year that can be used for capital improvements, replacement or updates on entities such as streets, storm sewer, swimming pool or other parks and recreation facilities. Grant City Council will determine the use of the funds being generated by transactions within city limits which could potentially be several thousand dollars per month.
