Coach Kay becomes new tech director
By Jan Rahn
Chip Kay wears several hats at Perkins County High School—this fall he is giving up one position and taking on another.
Kay is the new technology director, replacing Chris Mestl. He will continue to serve as the school’s activities director, assistant high school principal and head Plainsmen football coach.
Becoming the technology director means being replaced as the school’s business teacher. His business position will be filled by para educator Renee Seiler.
Kay is going into his sixth year at Perkins County High School. He has been the activities director and assistant principal for the last three years. He has taught business classes for all five years that he has been at PCHS.
He is entering his 14th year as a head coach and will be in his 22nd year overall as a football coach.
“With my new duties I have spent a lot of time in an empty school building this summer,” said Kay. “So I am excited for the students to return this fall. The start of school is always exciting.”
“Of course I can’t wait for those Friday nights at Haenfler Field!” said Coach Kay.
